How Does Interceptor Multi Worm Treatment for Dogs Work?

Interceptor Flavor Tabs contain the active ingredient milbemycin oxime. After administration, the formula is absorbed into your dog's bloodstream. Milbemycin oxime interferes with invertebrate neurotransmission. The formula prevents heartworm disease by eliminating the tissue stage of heartworm larvae. It controls adult hookworms while removing and controlling adult roundworms and whipworms.

According to a controlled lab study referenced by Elanco, Interceptor was 100% effective against induced heartworm infections (when given once a month for six consecutive months).

• Weigh your dog to determine the correct dosage strength.
• Administer Interceptor orally at monthly intervals, preferably on the same day of the month. It can be offered to the dog by hand.
• Alternatively, it can be offered with a small amount of dog food or as other tablets.
• Observe your dog closely after administration to ensure it consumes the entire dose. If the entire dose is not taken, give a full recommended dose immediately.
• Administer the first dose within one month of the dog's first exposure to mosquitoes, followed by a monthly dosing until the end of mosquito season.
• When replacing Diethylcarbamazine (Dec) with Interceptor for heartworm disease prevention, administer the first dose within 30 days after the last dose of Diethylcarbamazine (Dec).
• If you miss a dose or if treatment is delayed, immediately give a dose of Interceptor and resume the dosing schedule.
