How Does Nuheart Tablet for Dogs Work?

Nuheart heartworm preventive contains ivermectin as its active ingredient. After administration, ivermectin is absorbed in the dog's bloodstream to work systemically. It targets the immature heartworms and eliminates tissue larval stages of heartworms within 30 days of infection, thus preventing their development into adult worms.

• Give Nuheart orally, once every month, preferably on the same day or within a few days of the same day.
• Remove a tablet from the blister pack.
• Administer by placing it on top of the tongue, on the back of your dog's throat and pushing it down the throat with your index finger.
• If your dog does not take the tablet as a whole, you can dissolve it in water (5-10 ml) or other fluid.
• Alternatively, you can mix it with their food for easier administration, ensuring the entire dose is taken. If you suspect that a part of the dose is missed, give another tablet.
• If you miss a dose by 7 days or less, immediately give a dose and continue with the monthly schedule.
• In the case you miss the dose for the entire month, consult a vet.

Nuheart Dosing Guide:

Nuheart is not effective against adult heartworms (Dirofilaria immitis). It is indicated to have your dog checked for existing heartworms before commencing treatment with this heartworm preventive. If your dog is infected, consult a veterinarian for the appropriate course of treatment.

This oral treatment is not indicated for use in puppies younger than 6 weeks of age. Keep these tablets out of reach of children and pets.
