How Does Revolution Topical Solution for Dogs Work?

Revolution contains selamectin as its active ingredient. After application, the topical solution enters the dog's bloodstream through the skin. The concentrations of selamectin in the blood and tissues stop microfilariae from developing and prevent heartworm disease. The active formula selectively redistributes from the blood to the dog's skin. This helps it protect against other common parasites.

According to a laboratory study, Revolution effectively kills 99% of fleas on dogs within 36 hours. It effectively treats naturally occurring sarcoptic mange infestations in dogs. Selamectin, when administered to dogs within one month of exposure, prevents the development of adult heartworms.

• Weigh your dog to select the suitable dosage.
• Take the applicator tube out of the pack.
• Puncture the seal of the tube by firmly pressing the cap down. A clicking sound will confirm that the seal is punctured.
• Remove the cap and see whether the tip of the applicator tube is open.
• Part the hair until the skin is visible on the dog's back at the base of the neck between the shoulder blades.
• Place the tip of the tube on the dog's skin and squeeze it multiple times onto the skin in one spot to empty it.
• Drag the tube away from the liquid, keeping it squeezed, and lift it to remove, ensuring that it is empty.
• Avoid massaging the liquid into the skin after application.
• For heartworm prevention, administer it year-round. It may be administered at least within one month after the dog's first exposure to mosquitoes and monthly afterwards until the end of the mosquito season. Administer the final dose within one month after the dog’s last exposure to mosquitoes.
