How Does Advantage Multi For Dogs Work?

Advantage Multi (Advocate) contains two active ingredients, imidacloprid and moxidectin. After application, the active formula spreads across the dog's body. Imidacloprid works topically by distributing through the lipid (fatty/oily) layer of the dog's skin and coat, killing adult fleas and lice on contact. It also helps control environmental flea larvae by shedding with the pet's skin and fur into the surroundings.

Moxidectin is absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream and tissues, where it eliminates internal parasites and mites. With regular monthly administration, the treatment reaches a steady state in the dog's system, providing continuous protection. Advocate kills fleas quickly and stops fleas from feeding within 3–5 minutes. Adult fleas are killed within one hour of application, while flea larvae are eliminated to help control infestations in the treated dog's environment.

How to Use Advantage Multi (Advocate)?

• Weigh your dog to select the suitable dosage.
• Take the applicator tube out of the pack. Hold the tube upright and pull off the cap.
• Reverse the cap and push the cap back on the tube.
• Twist the cap to break the seal and remove the cap after breaking the seal.
• If the dog is wearing a Seresto collar, do not remove the collar. Remove any other collar before application and replace it when the application area is dry.
• For easy application, the dog should be in a standing position. Part the dog's fur between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible.
• Place the tip of the applicator tube on the skin and squeeze the tube twice, applying the solution directly onto the skin.
• The treatment remains effective after shampooing, swimming, or exposure to rain. If washing your dog between treatments, use a soap-free shampoo.
• For ongoing flea prevention, treat all dogs living in the same environment every month with Advocate.
• For heartworm prevention, treat dogs one month before the first exposure to mosquitoes.
• Test your dog for heartworms before starting treatment with Advantage Multi (Advocate).

Advantage Multi (Advocate) for Dogs is for external use on puppies and dogs only. Do not administer it orally. It is not indicated for use in cats or humans. Keep this topical product out of the reach of children, uninformed people and pets. Do not allow children or anyone to come into contact with the application site until the application area is dry. Use with caution in sick, debilitated or underweight dogs.

Avoid contact of the product with the pet's eyes or mouth. The safety of this product has not been established in pregnant or lactating dogs.

Before administration, test your dogs for existing heartworm infections and treat infected dogs to remove adult heartworms as per veterinarian recommendations.
