Drontal for Cats

Pyrantel Embonate and Praziquantel are the two active ingredients present in this oral deworming treatment. Pyrantel Embonate is effective in eliminating hookworms and ascarids by acting as a blocking agent causing paralysis in worms. This makes the hookworms lose their grip in the intestinal walls of the cat thus get eliminated through cat's natural excretion process. While praziquantel damages the skin of the worms internally resulting in the disintegration of the worms thereby removing them. When both these ingredients are combined together, it results in the complete elimination of gastrointestinal worms from cats.

• Weigh the cat properly and then select the appropriate pack size according to the weight of the cat.
• This treatment can be given orally directly in the mouth of the cat on an empty stomach.
• If the cat resists, mix it in the cat food.
• But if mixing the treatment in the cat food ensure that the cat eats the meal entirely for the dose to remain effective.
• This treatment needs to be repeated every 3 months or as directed by your veterinarian.

Dosage Details

• Kittens should be wormed at 6, 8, 10 and 12 weeks of age. Thereafter they need to be treated at least every 3 months throughout adulthood.
• Females should be treated before mating, 10 days before the kittens are born, and then 2 and 4 weeks after kittening in addition to the usual adult treatments.

Dosage:

• For bodyweight 1.5-1.9 lbs - 1/4 tablet
• For bodyweight 2-3 lbs - 1/2 tablet
• For bodyweight 4-8 lbs - 1 tablet
• For bodyweight 9-12 lbs - 1 ½ tablets
• For bodyweight 13-16 lbs - 2 tablets

(Note: Administer one tablet per 9 lb bodyweight every 3 months for adults)
