Heartgard Plus Chewables - Heartworm Treatment For Dogs

Heartgard Plus is a beef-flavored chewable to prevent heartworm infection in dogs. It also treats and controls preexisting hookworm and roundworm infections. Heartworms, spread by mosquitoes, can result into fatal diseases when prevented with heartworm preventives. Hence, to protect your pet from deadly diseases, Heartgard is a full proof solution. Heartgard Plus tablets treat small, medium and large sized dogs that falling under three weight ranges – 0-25 lbs, 26-50 lbs and 51-100 lbs respectively. Available in 6-dose and 12-dose packets, these palatable tablets are given as a monthly dosage.

Heartgard Plus contains two potent ingredients - Ivermectin and Pyrantel. The active ingredient Ivermectin eliminates the immature form of heartworms and the other ingredient pyrantel removes hookworms and roundworms. The oral treatment when given monthly protects your dog against dangerous heartworm disease.

It effectively prevents heartworm disease and can be administered monthly starting from 6 weeks old puppies.

Nuheart - a generic heartgard is an effective heartworm treatment for dogs. Nuheart is a generic version of Heartgard with exactly the same ingredient as in Heartgard. Nuheart is a meat flavored monthly tablet that is easy to dose. It is safe to use for dogs and puppies over 6 weeks of age.

• The palatable tablets are loved by dogs making the treatment quite easy to administer
• Prevents heartworm disease
• Treats and controls roundworms and hookworms

• Before starting this preventive program, get your dog tested for heartworm infection.
• For dogs tested with no heartworm infection, monthly administering of Heartgard Plus is a must. Give the tablets every month on the same date to prevent heartworm infection.
• By chance if you miss giving a dose and 30 days have passed by since the last dosage, immediately administer Heartgard Plus and resume the monthly treatment schedule.
• Continuous treatment for 12 months is a must. Administered orally, the palatable tablet can be broken into pieces for ease of swallowing. For dogs this tasteful tablet is a treat.
• Remove tablets only when needed and protect the packet from sunlight. While administering, avoid contact with eyes. 

Heartgard Plus Dosage for Dogs/Puppies (6 weeks and older puppies):

• Test the puppies and dogs for heartworm infection prior to starting the treatment.
• It is advisable that the pet should chew the tablet rather than swallow it.
• The monthly dose of the tablet should be continued throughout the year.
• Skipping treatment in winter months is strictly not advisable as the pets might catch up on infections during this time.
• In case the dosage is missed for more than two months, you need to consult a veterinarian and take his/her advice for further treatment. 

Caution:Collies including Border Collies and other breeds are sensitive to Ivermectin. Please consult your vet before giving this treatment or look for alternatives to Ivermectin for the treatment of parasites.
