How Does Revolution Plus Work?

Revolution Plus combines two powerful active ingredients, selamectin and sarolaner. This combination provides a broader protection against both external and internal parasites with this dual-action formula.

Selamectin interferes with the glutamate-gated chloride channels, causing paralysis and death of the parasites, including roundworms, hookworms and heartworms. Sarolaner causes increased nerve stimulation in the parasites, such as fleas, ticks and ear mites and kills them. The unique bi-modal action of selamectin and sarolaner protects against fleas and ear mites for a complete month.

Revolution Plus began killing fleas within 12 hours of treatment and killed more than 98% of fleas within 24 hours, as per a laboratory study, stated in the product label. The label also indicates the onset of tick-killing activity within 24 hours of administration. The combination of selamectin and sarolaner is 100% effective in preventing the development of heartworms in cats infected with heartworm larvae (Dirofilaria immitis) 30 days before treatment, according to lab studies referenced in the label.

• Weigh your cat to select the suitable dosage.
• Take the applicator tube out of the pack.
• Puncture the seal of the tube by firmly pressing the cap down. A clicking sound will confirm that the seal is punctured.
• Remove the cap and see whether the tip of the applicator tube is open.
• Part the hair until the skin is visible on the cat's back at the base of the neck between the shoulder blades.
• Place the tip of the tube on the cat's skin and squeeze it multiple times onto the skin in one spot to empty it.
• Drag the tube away from the liquid, keeping it squeezed, and lift it to remove, ensuring that it is empty.
• Avoid massaging the liquid into the skin after application.
• For prevention of heartworm disease, administer Revolution Plus monthly year-round or at least within one month after your cat's first exposure to mosquitoes and monthly afterwards until the end of the mosquito season.

Revolution Plus Dosing Guide:

Revolution Plus is not indicated for use in humans. You should keep these topical products out of the reach of children, uninformed people and pets. Do not allow children or anyone to come in contact with the application site until four hours after the application. Individuals with known hypersensitivity to any of the active ingredients should consult their healthcare professional before applying it to a cat.

This is a flammable treatment. Keep it away from heat, sparks, open flames or other sources of ignition. This topical treatment should be used with caution in cats with a history of seizures or neurologic disorders. Avoid applying it to broken skin. Do not apply it when the cat’s coat is wet.

The safe use of Revolution Plus has not been evaluated in kittens less than 8 weeks of age and pregnant, breeding or lactating cats. Field studies suggest that Revolution Plus can be used with other treatments, including vaccines, cestocidal anthelmintics, antibacterials, sedatives, anesthetics, opioid analgesics, corticosteroids, and NSAIDs.
