How Does Seresto Flea & Tick Collar Work?

Seresto Collar for Dogs contains imidacloprid and flumethrin as active ingredients. The collar's innovative polymer matrix stores these ingredients inside the collar. After application, the active formula is slowly released from the site of direct contact over the dog's skin surface, from head to toes, including the tail. As the active ingredients wear off, a new supply of the active formula is continuously replenished for 8 months.

Imidacloprid controls flea infestations, whereas flumethrin repels and kills ticks. The product label suggests that the collar kills existing fleas on dogs 24 hours after the first application. It kills new fleas on the dog within two hours post-24 hours and protects against further flea infestations for 8 months.

It begins preventing new tick infestations at 48 hours after application. The collar repels and/or kills any new ticks on the dog within 6 hours after 48 hours of application.

How to Use Seresto Flea Collar on Dogs?

• Take the Seresto collar out of its protective bag immediately before use.
• Unroll the collar, ensuring no remnants from the plastic connectors are inside the collar.
• Insert the end of the collar through the buckle.
• Adjust the collar around the dog's neck without tightening it too tightly or leaving it too loose. Leave a gap of two fingers between the collar and the dog's neck.
• Pull the excess part of the collar through the loop(s). Cut the collar to a length no more than 1 inch (2 cm) beyond the loops.
• If the collar is on a growing puppy, do not cut the excess length.
• Check the collar regularly and adjust the fit if required.
• For optimum protection, make your dog wear the collar continuously. Replace the collar with a new one every 8 months.
